This blog is about our team building at Gandikota, also know as the Grand Canyon of India. It’s an ideal spot for outdoor team building activities.
Gandikota is a village and historical fort on the right bank of the Penna river, 15 km from Jammalamadugu in Kadapa district, Andhra Pradesh, India. The fort was the centre of power for various dynasties, such as the Kalyani Chalukyas, Pemmasani Nayakas, and the Golconda Sultanate. A sand fort was constructed by Kaka Raja, Vassals of Kalyani Chalukya rulers. Various additions of Islamic architecture were made during subsequent Muslim rule. The fort is a centrally protected monument of Archaeological Survey of India
We did a two days one night trip from Bangalore. Best part is the night stay in tents on the clifftop.
There is lots of adventure stuff that you can do apart from just watching the canyon change its colour from dawn to dusk.
Several protected monuments (Archaeological Survey of India), on the clifftop gives you an idea of the life of people centuries ago.
If that boring for you, then you could walk all the way down the canyon and touch down the water body to do some hiking and perhaps some kayak.
On the way, you can stop over at Belum Caves.
The Belum Caves, located in Nandyala district of Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalaseema region, is the second largest cave system on the Indian subcontinent, known for its speleothems, such as stalactite and stalagmite formations. The Belum Caves have long passages, galleries, spacious caverns with fresh water and siphons. This cave system was formed over the course of tens of thousands of years by the constant flow of underground water from the now-disappeared river Chitravathi.
End of the day, not much team building happened to the dismay of the chief of design. No worries.. try next time.
End of Document.
